Outside

The new album ‘Outside’ reveals the fulfillment of Chloe’s development into the serious recording artist she has always been threatening to become.

Accompanied by long standing producer Greg Arnold (Things of Stone and Wood, Carus, Skipping Girl Vinegar), Chloe journeyed to Nashville where they met up to mix with alt-country legend Brad Jones (Josh Rouse, Bob Evans).

Taking the 60s-70s singer-songwriter aesthetic of Chloe’s third recording, the acclaimed album ‘White Street’, and marrying it to a new millenium acoustica, she has delivered a stunning melodic and harmonic wonderland.

“What [Chloe] has done is create an album as warm as a summer’s night and as earthily woody as the deep roots of an oak….” WARWICK McFADYEN – THE AGE / SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

Released in Australia in 2006, and in Canada in 2007, White Street established Chloe Hall as the insightful songwriter and transcendent singer we recognize today. Combining a warm, woodgrain sound with high production values, White Street’s contemporary treatment of the acoustic singer-songwriter genre won hearts and fans.

Chloe’s first full-length offering, the album was well reviewed, receiving widespread acclaim and airplay on the national broadcasters in both Australia and Canada. It’s the work of a mature and assured artist with an instinct for melody – a writer who knows her own voice and is palpably comfortable in her own skin.

Produced by Greg Arnold (Things of Stone and Wood), White Street features Chloe Hall performing vocals, piano and guitar, Anita Quayle (The Morning Birds) on cello, Louise McCarthy (Lucid) playing violin, viola and singing backing vocals, Greg Arnold on guitar, bass and Hammond and James Richmond (Naked Raven) on percussion.

“For years now Chloe Hall has been a part of the Australian music scene, but with the release of ‘White Street’ we realize just what a dominant force she has become.” DAVID MILLER – 97.1FM MELBOURNE

“[Chloe Hall] is one of the strongest new voices in contemporary Australian folk music. Her new album, White Street… highlights her best music yet.” CHARMAINE CAMILLERI – FAIRFAX COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS

This was Chloe Hall’s 2nd CD and the first collaboration with now long-standing producer Greg Arnold (Carus, Skipping Girl Vinegar, Things of Stone and Wood). It was an interesting step on the way to establishing Chloe Hall as the alternative folk artist she is today.

Pop-flavoured folk, this EP was originally a promotional recording released in Europe and the US, but is now available to anyone interested in the evolution of Chloe Hall’s sound.

“White Sky makes for great listening all of the time… she has a strength and serenity in her voice that seems to emit from deep within her soul” LAUREN MOONEY, BEAT MAGAZINE
